What is the Artshare project? Artshare is a printmaking project that puts the artist, Ben MacNeill, at risk. The piece consists of 800 printed Shares that were sold through the website in an initial public offering (IPO) for $5 each. These Shares may be kept as Art or returned to the artist for $10 beginning 2004. The Artshare IPO sold out on May 4, 1999 following an article in BusinessWeek. A secondary market for the Shares has been created in the Investor Center. |
What is Artshare.com? This is the
support site for the 1999 Artshare as well as an artistic endeavor for
MacNeill Art Projects. The site will expand in the future to include other
artworks and projects.
